Building Mexico
by Karl Logan on 12/31/11

Many Americans are concerned about illegal immigration.  Many are concerned that the sheer volume of new Mexican mothers enrolled onto the U.S. welfare system is destroying American life.  Some Americans are frustrated by the flow of Mexicans into the U.S. partly due the consumption of drugs in the US and the violent drug trade it creates suggesting that Americans are partly to blame for the influx of Mexicans. Others suggest there isn’t enough opportunity in Mexico for the people to make an honest living.

The solution to reduce the flow of Mexicans into the U.S. is to create opportunity in Mexico by building businesses in Mexico.  If Mexico built a Gambling Casino in Tijuana, Californians would swamp the border town and give their money away, willingly.  The locals would have jobs, the community would prosper, and the illegal immigration of Mexicans into the US might stop.  But where will the capital to start these projects come from?

Organized crime made millions off drugs, alcohol, and crime during prohibition then built Las Vegas.  The Drug Cartels should do the same?  They can build lavish casinos and get wealthy the old fashioned way, through legalized crime.  Think about it.  What if Mexico legalized marijuana?  Small amounts are legal already in Mexico.  Marijuana could be consumed in Mexican casinos and make a handsome profit.  Alcohol makes millions for hotel/casinos in most countries.  Prostitution is already legal in much of Mexico.  An organized casino would keep prostitution clean and profitable.

Small Mexican towns would prosper.  Hotels could hire housekeepers without the need for green cards.  Housing would be build so drywall jobs would be plentiful.  Farming for fresh local produce would create jobs that Americans won't want so native Mexicans will fill the void.  Main Street would come alive with small Mexican restaurants creating even more jobs.  Infrastructure would need to be built so Americans would flood across the border looking for good paying jobs.

What a nice change that would be.

Changing the World
by Karl Logan on 12/31/11

This is a great little short story from Glen Beck.

A man decided that he would change the world.
But, he wasn't successful.
So he decided to change the country.
But, he wasn't successful.
So he decided to change his community.
But, he wasn't successful.
So he decided to change his street.
But, be wasn't successful.
So he decided to change his family.
But, he wasn't successful.
So he decided to change himself.
AND HE WAS SUCCESSFUL.
AND HIS FAMILY CHANGED AND THEY AFFECTED THEIR STREET.
AND THE PEOPLE ON THE STREET AFFECTED THEIR COMMUNITY.
AND THE PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY AFFECTED THEIR COUNTRY.
AND THE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY AFFECTED THE WORLD.

Many of us would like to change the world, but first we must change ourselves.  People learn more from watching what others do rather than what they say.

Whoopi Goldberg on Communism
by Karl Logan on 12/22/11

Leave it to Whoopi Goldberg to make a ridiculous comment like this:    "If you say that this is how our culture is and then you send your child to a Swiss boarding school - you know, this is what happens with communism. It's a great concept. On paper it makes perfect sense. But once you put a human being in power, it shifts. We saw it in Russia, we've seen it all around the world. It's nuts. But, I keep my fingers crossed."
Communism is a great concept?  Really?  It's great until a human is in control.  Who the heck does she think people are if not human.  Just like every other liberal view it looks good on paper.  It's the thought that counts!  That is the whole problem.  Humans live in reality (except liberals).  The concept must work in reality and not just on paper.  If you started a business and it looked good on paper but no one wanted your product you would fail.  Take National Healthcare, it is a great concept, but it will not work without huge taxes and ongoing repairs.  Ergo, communism is a failure.  Whoopi, get over it.

China's military buildup

So do you still want to buy more cheap Chinese made products to help China fianance their Navy for combat?

China's Hu Reportedly Tells Navy to Get Ready for Military Combat

I say NO, NO , NO.  Americans are addicted to cheap Chinese made products.  We are their largest market.  We don't just buy cheap ear phones and toys, we buy multibillion dollar bridges (remember California).  Every dollar spent on Chinese goods erodes American jobs and security.  It is past time to buy American.

In addition, our Congress and Whitehouse can't seem to stay out of foreign affairs.  We position our ships off the coast of China (south China Sea) and wonder why they are posturing.  It is bad enough that we provide the motive for China to increase their military and naval presence do we really have to pay for it too?

Sexual Harassment by a 9 year old?

Boy, 9, Suspended from School for Sexual Harassment After Calling Teacher 'Cute'
Published December 04, 2011,  FoxNews.com Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/12/04/boy-suspended-from-school-for-sexual-harassment-after-calling-teacher-cute/#ixzz1ffclw1IZ

Seriously?  Calling a teacher cute is not punishable be suspension?  According to the story, the boy didn't touch the teacher in any way.  He complemented her.  That is now apparently "inappropriate behavior" or a "disruption of school".

Another boy at the school got in a fight and punch a kid in the groin and they called that sexual harassment as well.  This happened in Massachusetts, of course.  Getting punched is a violent crime not sexual harassment.  And in this kids case, it was self defense.  Once again the victim is punished.  The poor kid was being choked and he defended himself.

So we march toward Sharia Law.  Our girls will be covered from head to toe in a Burka and our boys will have their hands chopped off for self defense.  It may sound ridiculous now but just wait.  If these kind of rules rein, it won't be long before Sharia Law doesn't sound so strict.  Maybe the female teachers should wear a Burka so the students can't judge her looks.  And should girls really be going to school?  Caning is certainly appropriate for the bullies on the playground.  Maybe there is a place for Sharia Law.  Why yes, there is.  In the middle east.  Let's keep it there.

Herman Cain's Press Conference on Sexual Harassment
by Karl Logan on 11/08/11

Herman Cain held a press conference today and adamantly denied all charges against him.  He states he does even know the most recent accuser.  At this point it is he said she said.  Fourteen years after the alleged harassment no witnesses can be located and details have withered away.  The other allegations are also said to be baseless.  However, there was an agreement and separation of employment between the NRA and the accuser.  So what are the grounds for sexual harassment?

Sexual Harassment defined.  Sexual harassment, is intimidation, bullying or coercion of a sexual nature, or the unwelcome or inappropriate promise of rewards in exchange for sexual favors.  It includes a range of behavior from seemingly mild transgressions and annoyances to actual sexual abuse or sexual assault.  Most of us understand that definition.  However, the definition goes on to state, the victim does not have to be the person directly harassed but can be anyone who finds the behavior offensive and is affected by it.  In addition, the harasser may be completely unaware that his or her behavior is offensive or constitutes sexual harassment or may be completely unaware that his or her actions could be unlawful. A person can over hear a sexually explicit joke and claim sexual harassment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_harassment

Anyone can claim sexual harassment with little evidence.  The mere mention of sexual harassment during a presidential campaign can be devastating to a candidate.  Herman Cain stated that the democratic machine will try everything to stop a businessman from getting the republican nomination or the office of the United States of America.  This is one possible motive.  The press has even investigated the accuser.  The most recent accuser has had financial troubles.  Is that a motive for bring a accusation?

Mr. Cain did not shake his finger at the camera and say "I did not have sex with that women..."  like someone else we love to hate.  Unless these claims completely unravel or a substantive claim comes forward, I am standing behind Herman Cain.

Christmas 2011, Birth of a Tradition
by Karl Logan on 11/08/11

I am posting this from an email I received.  It is a great idea.  We can make a difference in our own local economy by choosing how we spend.  If you are considering artistic or handmade gifts, try the Deadwood Trading Post.

Christmas 2011 -- Birth of a New Tradition

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high
gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods --
merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This
year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine
concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift
giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes
there is!

It's time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in
a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?
Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates
from your local American hair salon or barber?

Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some
health improvement.

Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned
detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a
book of gift certificates.

Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plonking down
the Benjamines on a Chinese made flat-screen? Perhaps that grateful gift
receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or
driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.

There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift
certificates. And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about
a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint. Remember, folks this
isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town
Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.

How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or
motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?

Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a
local cleaning lady for a day.

My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is
struggling to get his repair business up and running.

OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin
their own wool and knit them into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery
and beautiful wooden boxes.

Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave
your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at
your hometown theatre.

Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.

Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese
lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of light, about
fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to
burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.

You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that
China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about
US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow
their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our
communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine.
THIS is the new American Christmas tradition.
Forward this to everyone on your mailing list -- post it to discussion groups -- throw up apost on Craigslist in the Rants and Raves section in your city --
send it to the editor of your local paper and radio stations, and TV news departments.
This is a revolution of caring about each other, and isn't that what
Christmas is about?

Another War Brewing?
by Karl Logan on 11/08/11

Are tensions spiraling out of control in the Mid East or is this business as usual?  At the beginning of Obama’s presidency he bowed to many other presidents in a show of obedience, subservience, and in his view, respect, in an attempt to show the world that the U.S. is a kinder gentler nation.  What Obama didn't expect is that subservient behavior emboldens presidents like Ahmadinejad.

As I see it, the tensions will peak as the U.S. decommissions our military in an effort to save money and avert an economic collapse.  During the 1990's Clinton helped balance the budget by mutilating the military.  In 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed.  In 1998 the U.S. Embassy was bombed in Kenya.  In 2000, the USS Cole was attacked.  Now as the U.S. withdraws troops from the Middle East and begins discussion on how best to downsize our military, Mid East tensions are on the rise.

If a military disaster does occur, the democrats will no doubt blame the republicans for sending our troops to battle ill equipped.  The only good outcome of Obama winning another term is that he will be left holding the bag win terror strikes.  Unfortunately, Americans lose on the deal.  Plan for the worst while living and enjoying today.

Thomas Jefferson Quotes
by Karl Logan on 11/07/11

I am posting this from an email I received.  The quotes are timely considering all the political mess we are in today.

Thomas Jefferson

There are two parts.  Be sure to read the 2nd part (in RED).
Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped.
At 5, began studying under his cousin's tutor.
At 9, studied Latin, Greek and French.
At 14, studied classical literature and additional languages.
At 16, entered the College of William and Mary.
At 19, studied Law for 5 years starting under George Wythe.
At 23, started his own law practice.
At 25, was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses.
At 31, wrote the widely circulated "Summary View of the Rights of British America " and retired from his law practice.
At 32, was a Delegate to the Second Continental Congress.
At 33, wrote the Declaration of Independence .
At 33, took three years to revise Virginia ?s legal code and wrote a Public Education bill and a statute for Religious Freedom.
At 36, was elected the second Governor of Virginia succeeding Patrick Henry.
At 40, served in Congress for two years.
At 41, was the American minister to France and negotiated commercial treaties with European nations along with Ben Franklin and John Adams.
At 46, served as the first Secretary of State under George Washington.
At 53, served as Vice President and was elected president of the American Philosophical Society.
At 55, drafted the Kentucky Resolutions and became the active head of Republican Party.
At 57, was elected the third president of the United States .
At 60, obtained the Louisiana Purchase doubling the nation's size.
At 61, was elected to a second term as President.
At 65, retired to Monticello .
At 80, helped President Monroe shape the Monroe Doctrine.
At 81, almost single-handedly created the University of Virginia and served as its first president.
At 83, died on the 50th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence along with John Adams
Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, his laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today. Jefferson really knew his stuff. A voice from the past to lead us in the future:
John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement: "This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe ." -- Thomas Jefferson
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
-- Thomas Jefferson
"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."
-- Thomas Jefferson
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." -- Thomas Jefferson
"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." -- Thomas Jefferson
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
-- Thomas Jefferson
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -- Thomas Jefferson
"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
-- Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Is unemployment going up or down?
by Karl Logan on 11/07/11

A few days ago unemployment was reported to have dropped to 9.0% from 9.1%.  Yesterday, the article below shows that people have run out of benefits.  As you know, if you are not drawing unemployment you do not count on the unemployment rolls.  So when the Whitehouse suggests the unemployment rate in declining it really is just getting worse.  See my previous blog on how unemployment is calculated.

The article states that the average unemployment check is $300/week.  That is $1,200/month after taxes.  When factoring in a 25% tax rate (federal, state, payroll etc.) the monthly income would be about $1,500.00.  Federal minimum wage is $7.25 (effective 2009).  That is $290/week or $1,160/month (using a 4 week month not 4.3) before taxes.  If a person will make less on minimum wage than they get on unemployment there is no motivation to find work.   Many states have higher minimum wage rates.  However, it would require a rate of $9.35/hour to match the average unemployment compensation.

While a higher minimum wage incentivizes unemployed to take minimum age jobs, you must wonder whether the increased wage decreases hiring and expansion.  The increase in 2009 certainly doesn't seem to be stimulating the economy.

Is it better to accept a lower paying job until a good one comes along or just draw unemployment benefits and beat the pavement?  I think you are better off accepting a lower wage job.  While working full time diminishes your ability to look for work fulltime, prospective employers are likely to respect your work ethic.  A candidate that has been unemployeed for months to years does not have current skills and may be dismissed.

On the twisted side, I often wonder whether congressional democrats secretly like high unemployment because it gives them power over the people, voting, and policy making.  The desperate unemployed will look to anyone for a hand up, including government.  However, it is a difficult balancing act.  If unemployment is too high democrats lose voters.  American definitely needs a change.  This next election I am voting for change.

The Cain Sex Saga continues
by Karl Logan on 11/07/11

We may never know what really happened between Herman Cain and the alleged sexual harassment.  It is interesting that more women have stepped forward.  Is it smear or simply an opportunity to speak out?  Why wait so long?  Were they propositioned, cornered, or had to listen to some inappropriate banter?  What is unfortunate is that Herman Cain will never receive fair treatment from the press.  As noted in a previous blog, Bill Clinton lied under oath and walked away from all the sexual misconduct claims.  Clinton retained his position as President with only a censure from the Senate.  Al Gore also walked away from sexual harassment charges unscathed.

I am still reserving judgment.  Sexual harassment claims are thrown around sometimes out of spite.  There doesn't even have to be an substance to the claim.  The damage is done once it reaches the press.  It appears once again that Americans will be choosing the less of evils for President.

Do ILLEGAL Aliens have Constitutional rights?
by Karl Logan on 11/05/11

The Department of Justice DOJ is investigating Alabama over their new immigration law.  The DOJ is telling Alabama Public Schools that they have "Express Authority" to investigate Alabama's new policies on Federal Civil Rights issues.

When were ILLEGAL aliens granted the same rights as U.S. citizens.  By the actions of the Whitehouse ILLEGAL aliens have Federal Civil Rights and U.S. Constitutional Rights.  Federal Civil Rights are granted to U.S. citizens.  So the law is bent to define citizen, ILLEGAL or not.  By default illegal alien mothers of U.S. born children are granted welfare and all the rights and benefits available to care for these children.  That is a flaw in the U.S. Constitution (Nineteenth Amendment) that must be changed.  But until then, it is what it is.  However, granting Federal Civil Rights and U.S. Constitutional Rights to ILLEGAL aliens is An Abuse of Power.

It is ironic that President Obama stated the GOP subpoena of additional Solyndra documents was impeding him from his constitutional duties.  Since when did Obama care about the Constitution?  Does Healthcare Law or Bailout program come to mind?  What about upholding Federal Constitutional Law as it relates to IMMIGRATION POLICY?  The hypocrisy is outrageous.  Is this another wag the dog?  Maybe the Attorney General Eric Holder wants to get the media focused on something other than the gun running scandal.

The Obama Administration suggests that private employers are the problem because they do not enforce immigration law during the hiring process which requires proof of citizenship.  Then the Obama Administration refuses to enforce the Constitution and Federal Immigration laws.  And this Administration and the Media has the nerve to call Bush corrupt.

Withdrawal from Afghanistan
by Karl Logan on 11/03/11

The United States of America has reached a turning point in Afghanistan.  It is time to get out.  This is one executive order by Obama I can support.  I am fully behind him if he chooses to pull out.  Recent relations have been tenuous at best and the recent comment by Afghan President Hamid Karzai is a green light to withdraw.  Karzai has sealed his fate.  The original pull out date was the end of 2014.  This is one date that needs to be shortened.

Karzai has always been a puppet.  He has no back bone and should not be in this position.  I am convinced that he has been threatened by the Taliban and Al-Qaida.  With the tensions in Pakistan so high, as a result of the drone attacks using Afghanistan as a base,  places Karzai in a tenuous position.  However, he has failed to see Pakistan as a foe and has made his choice.  It is time for American men and women to return Afghanistan to its' people and wish them the best.

Lead by Example
by Karl Logan on 11/02/11

There is a lot of talk about taxing the rich.  I believe Congress should lead by example.  If Congressmen and women wish to preach about increasing tax rates they should start with themselves.  Every good leader understands that you should "lead by example".  We do not need hypocrites as our leaders.  We need leaders that set the tone for America by proving that giving is truly an altruistic process.

Research shows (and my blog) that conservatives give more on average than liberals.  Progressive liberals talk about charitable giving publically but do not give privately.  I believe that liberal/progressive/democratic Congressman/women should set the tone by giving half their wealth to pay down the national debt.  Before asking or requiring that others give through taxation, the Democrats in Washington and in their home states should lead by example and donate their wealth to the cause.  In addition, they should send all excess income to the Federal Government.  How much money do they really need anyway?

All liberal/progressive/Democratic party liners should follow their lead and contribute their wealth and excess income to the nation debt.  Then, and only then, will America be set on the right course (if you subscribe to the liberal blather).  After all, it is not about receiving but giving that makes you a good person, right?  American citizens that should begin the process of donations to the public treasury include:  Warren Buffett, Michael Moore, Barrack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore and Harry Reid.  Other people that preach giving include Hungarian-American George Soros.  After this tremendous showing of altruism by our leaders, maybe the rich liberals in Hollywood follow suit.

Fox recently published a list of Hollywood left leaner's:  Brad Pitt, Natalie Portman, Beyonce, Ben Affleck, Chris Rock, Scarlett Johansson, George Clooney, Leonardo Dicaprio, Will.i.am, Eva Longoria, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Aniston, Matt Damon, and Barbara Streisand.

But there are many more.  A few that come to mind are:  Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Cruise, Sean Penn, Jon Stewart, Al Franken, and Bette Midler.  Still, there are many, many more…see website http://www.stripersonline.com/t/683311/liberal-hollywood-stars-pop-stars

If you haven't already figured it, most of these bloviating stars want to give your money away but hang onto their own wealth.  While some give to charity, they retain the lion share of their wealth.  Often times they simply give their time, their celebrity, to convince YOU to give.

Every civilization that has converted to pure socialism has eventually failed.  You have a choice; socialism, the redistribution of wealth that ultimately fails, or capitalism that spreads the wealth through hard work.

Occupy Wall Street
by Karl Logan on 11/02/11

I have written a few blog drafts regarding the Occupy Wall Street protests but haven't posted them because these protests are so multifaceted.  While many of the protesters are rightfully labeled "The Flea Party" by Ann Coulter, the root of the protest has substance.  Some are just there because they want to belong to a protest or movement and still others have a good reason and something substantive to say.

Many Occupy Wall Street protesters believe that business and capitalism is the problem.  They wrongfully believe that companies should work for nothing, they chant 'no more profit' as if that would fix everything.  They believe greed is the problem.  I do agree that greed has a very negative side and it has indeed infiltrated the likes of Wall Street.  But is the protesting misplaced?

There is greed out there but many protesters are barking up the wrong tree.  I believe in this case, speculation, junk bonds, and packaged securities were created out of greed in that the firms packaging them did not care whether the asset really had value.  Uneducated investors were dooped by the same group of people that the government bailed out.  I think the protesters got it right when they headed to Wall Street because that is where you will find Goldman Sachs and the companies that create and package worthless investment vehicles.  However, the protests are exploding into anti-capitalistic rages that encompass the fabric of our economy.  The problem is not the business's that make products, hire people, pay pensions, and create opportunity.  It is the speculators, the financial gurus, and unscrupulous traders that feed the fire of economic collapse.

It is difficult for me to say this, but in hindsight, more regulation would have been good and might have prevented this economic collapse.  But the other half of the story is the bailing out of the very people/companies that engineered the collapse in the first place.  That was wrong.  Many of these SOB's shorted the very securities they sold the public and made millions as we lost our retirement.  Then the government bailed them out, supported their stock, and paid them to purchase the worthless securities they created.  In turn, these companies (think Goldman Sachs) gave millions in bonus's from bailout money, made millions when the market rebounded, were smug enough to tout their abilities as the market rebounded producing 20-30% gains, made more money and bonus's, while our retirement is still down 20-30% from its high.  So, they are getting rich and you and I are going broke.

Don't think the government was the victim either.  Government policies that encouraged a loose monetary and mortgage system, a reduction in regulation like the up-tick rules, and other missteps created a system of certain failure.  To top it all off, the Obama administration is allowing underwater home owners to refinance their mortgage and transfer the debt to the tax payer and ultimately create another bail out, this time for Freddie and Fanny (again).  Another financial collapse is being created even as I write this blog.

Oh the humanity.

Class Warfare
by Karl Logan on 11/02/11

The Whitehouse and democratically controlled congress are inciting Class Warfare.  The results are ominous.  Here is a recent headline:

Alleged Plot to Attack U.S. Officials Was Inspired by Online Anti-Government Novel, Authorities Say Published November 02, 2011, | FoxNews.com Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/11/01/4-suspected-us-militia-members-charged-in-plot/#ixzz1cYqFwXn1

When government spending pushes the country near bankrupcy and then blames the problem on a revenue issue instead of a spending issue in an effort to garner support to tax the rich, demonstrators (note the demon in demonstrator) show up and take control.  It is not good for anyone.
In this case, there was no fanfare like Occupy Wall Street, the demons tried to be stealthy.  In an effort to save this country, a group of 60-70 year old men wanted to assasinate a "bucket list" of government employees, politicians, corporate leaders, and memebers of the media.  Thank God it was stopped by authorities.

Catholic University and Muslim prayer
by Karl Logan on 10/28/11

In a bazaar twist, Muslims admitted to a Private Catholic University are demanding a place to pray free of Catholic symbols like the cross.  What is the U.S.A. coming to?  The liberals and atheists have successfully prohibited religion from many public building and activities and are now focused on private institutions.  Now Muslims are given the green light to transform America to their liking?

I have grown up with God on my currency, God in the Pledge of Allegiance, Jesus at Christmas, God in prayer, God, Christianty and Easter, God and Catholicism through my work place in hospitals, God in fraternity memberships (clubs), God at funerals, and God and Crosses as a symbol of respect, honor, and salvation.  God and Christianity is my culture, my tradition, my heritage.  You are not required to agree or accept my belief system but you are not premitted to destroy it either.

I have friends and acquaintances from many religious backgrounds and beliefs.  We respect each other's belief system or just don't discuss it because it is private.  It is offensive to me that a bunch of liberal/progressive/atheist and Muslim activists get to butcher my country and transform it with their morality (or lack there of) and their own personal belief system.

America's Judeo Christian Heritage is being replaced by the Muslim faith, one law at a time.  Seemingly innocuous laws are created, changed, and/or replaced.  Some Federal Judges have approved Sharia (Islamic) law to be used in America.  It has already happened in Texas, Michigan, and Florida.

Our country is under attack.  What groups sponsor these activists and what are their motives?  Have you ever heard of an extreme makeover?   Just wait for it.  Next, the liberals will approve a Muslim request to place a burka/head-dress on the Statue of Liberty.

In America, we honor all faith and choose to live together harmoniously.  Do you see the same happening in Muslims countries?  Think about that before you support the spread of Muslims values and Sharia Law in the United States of America.

Obama's War(s)
by Karl Logan on 10/22/11

The Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Barrack Hussein Obama, appears to be anything but a peace loving President.  The mission to assassinate Bin Laden was applauded by much of the world including the United States.  But isn't Obama a peace loving President.  At first glance we are pleased that Bin Laden is gone.  But did Obama over-step his authority by executing a military mission in a sovereign country without their knowledge or permission?

Obama promised a different America.  Promises made then broken are just the beginning.  Remember Gitmo?  Guantanamo Bay was going to be closed after Obama was elected.  Gitmo did not close.  But that's not all, Obama has not withdrawn troops from Iraq as promised in 2008.  He did recently state troops would be out of Iraq by years end.  Obama instituted a surge in Afghanistan.  This was a good decision but goes against the grain of his Peace Prize.  Obama started a war in Libya and assisted in the assassination of Muammar Gaddafi.  Is doesn't stop there.  Obama approved the assassination of American terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki and the assassination of al-Awlaki's 16 year old son Abdulrahman al-Alwlaki.  Then the Nobel Peace prize recipient Barrack Hussein Obama starts a war in central Africa.

Why is Obama not living up to his promises regarding war?  Perhaps he is attempting to distract American from the economy.  Maybe Obama thinks that the Arab Spring that he applauded will be such a great turning point in the world that he can run on that.  But is the Arab Spring a good thing?  Obama has supported the overthrow of Mubarak in Egypt and Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh.  Obama is encouraging Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down.  Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari is getting pressure to step down.

The question is whether the turmoil and eventual change in leadership will have a positive or negative effect.  Will the Muslim Brotherhood control these countries?  Will Al-Qaeda have a role or protection under the new leadership?  The insurgents that overthrew Libya painted "there is no God, but Allah, and Mohammad is his prophet" on their battleship.  Is this the Hope and Change you were expecting?  Is this the leadership the Nobel Prize committee was honoring?

A job plan I can stand behind
by Karl Logan on 10/18/11

Politicians are wrangling over a reasonably jobs plan for the country.  Here is a jobs plan that I can get behind.  Let's call it Karl Logan's Job Plan.  Construct a fence on the southern border.

It is bold, it is expensive, and it should obtain bipartisan support.  Republicans want a fence and Democrats want another economic stimulus.  Construction jobs are great at getting Americans back to work.  The plan isn't busy work like spending billions for pot holes.  It serves a purpose.

Karl Logan's Job plan has something for everybody:

It puts Americans back to work.
It will take years to construct so it will be a sustained jobs plan.
It will require engineers, manual labor, heavy equipment operators, and white collar jobs.
It will put union employees back to work.
The entire U.S. will be involved producing design, rock, block, cement, steel, and labor.
It can provide many green jobs by integrating solar panels on top of the wall.
It will provide good paying jobs on the southern side to help boost the Mexican economy.
It will help defeat the war on drugs.
It will reduce future illegal aliens from entering the U.S. which will save billions.
It will help stop terrorists from entering the U.S. from the south.
Our troops can be brought home and the military can provide security.
Once it is finished we can clear our prisons of illegal aliens which will save millions.
It will be a great monument to honor our war casualties, MLK, and the great society.
It will provide gangs with something to tag.
Maintenance crews will be forever employed painting over the graffiti.
When completed, it will provide tourism dollars for southern states.
Outdoor Movie Screens can be resurrected and viewed on the wall.
Very little wood will be used so environmentalists will be happy and the spotted owl will survive.
Emptied rock quarry's can be flooded into lakes to create more wetlands and reservoirs.
It can be a secure back drop for shooting ranges.
Politicians will have an iconic place to stump.
California will integrate a high speed bullet train to the Gulf of Mexico on top of the wall.
It can be promoted as Stones Across America.
Mick Jagger can provide the theme song.
Michael Moore can do a movie about the Great Divide.
George Soros can invest in something other than bankrupting economies.
Wall Street can sell junk bonds on the construction of the wall.
Millionaires can donate and dedicate portions of the wall to their foundations.
Warren Buffett can round up billionaires to contribute taxes for construction.
Obama will get to spend more and have a shot at re-election.
In Texas, it will be known as Rick Perry's Job Plan.
Mitt Romney will promote the Great Wall Healthcare and Retirement Plan.
Herman Cain will jokingly include solar electric fences.
Ron Paul will bill Mexico for construction of the Great Wall.
Adhering to local building codes, New Mexico will build their section with mud and straw.
Jan Brewer will retire happy.
Wiki-pedia will include a new entry on the 'Great Wall of America'.
Wiki-leaks can publish information on the corruption.
Americans will get construction updates from Facebook.
Google will sell advertisement space for the Great Wall.
It will help contain the Chupacabra.

And, it secures the border.

This is one construction project that Americans will stand behind.  Literally!

Congressional Spending
by Karl Logan on 10/17/11

If your head explodes when you think about the bitter controversy between Democrat and Republican, Liberal verses Conservative, and wonder why the Tea Party exists, follow the money (or in this case, spending the money).  While the difference between parties does include tax debate often it revolves around social issues like abortion and gay marriage.  The Tea Party jumped in because of over indulgent Congressional spending.

Just look at the Congressional spending under Obama and Bush to invigorate the economy.  $786 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and $1 trillion toxic asset bank bailout, the Obama job bill of $447 billion, the feds QE1 of $1.7 trillion and QE2 $600 billion and a potential QE3 of an undisclosed amount, in addition to the smaller loans and bailouts totaling $357 billion to Chrysler, GM, AIG and a mortgage stimulus, all on top of Bush's Democratic Congress's $700 billion TARP and $858 billion total for Fanny and Freddie, Bear Stearns, AIG, and some checks for tax payers you get a lot of tax dollars spent to net a failing economy.  And the cost of Obama-care hasn't even kicked in yet.

Say what you want about the Tea Party, but they represent fiscal restraint.  The President is one man (women) but Congress encompasses representatives from across the country, hundreds of them.  When you have a reckless Congress lead by a reckless President you get bankruptcy.  The proposed 2012 budget is $3.7 trillion dollars.  The deficit is estimated to be $1.7 trillion.  Taxing alone will not net enough to correct the mess we are in.  As discussed in a previous blog, the entire wealth of all American billionaires won't pay off the deficit, let alone the $14.7 trillion national debt.

Spending cuts is the only solution.  The longer we wait the worse the great repression will become.  You can protest Wall Street but it will not change the fact that it is Congressional recklessness that caused the problem.  Wall Street is not without blame, but we can't spend ourselves into prosperity.

Herman Cain takes the lead
by Karl Logan on 10/13/11

If Herman Cain continues his foot hold, Democrats will have a fit and try to discredit him.   In an article by Ben Crystal, Razing Cain, Mr. Crystal points out the hypocrisy in politics and the rampant racism.  While the republicans attacked Cain in the last debate, they treated him as an equal.  The liberal pundits are acting as if someone is paying Cain to run for president.  How insulting is that.  The liberal commentators are suggesting that black people are not capable of being successful on their own.

While I think Romney would make a competent President, I am not certain Romney can defeat Obama.   Politicians are more concerned about re-election and tend to make concessions and spend, spend, spend.  Herman Cain is not a politician.  If we do not get spending under control, no amount of taxation will correct America's spiral into bankruptcy.  The proposed 2012 budget cuts are not sufficient to correct our path into bankruptcy.  The current deficit is 1.4 trillion.  Proposed cuts are only 1 trillion over ten years or 100 billion per year.  The numbers do not add up to solvency.  While meaningful cuts will hurt, bankruptcy will be worse.

Unless Herman Cain has some skeleton in the closet, he is the real deal.  And in this case, his ethnicity is an asset.  Herman Cain is a self made millionaire.  He is intelligent, articulate, and has common sense.  Mr. Cain has experience turning around a faltering business.  This is exactly what America needs.  Mr. Cain believes in individualism and self sufficiency.  Herman Cain is a conservative first, and a republican second.

Conservatives believe that our Federal Government should help not hinder.  Government should promote self reliance not provide a life style.  Government should protect our borders and our sovereignty, not invite lawlessness.  Our Government should encourage independence not rule our daily lives.  Government should emphasize individual wealth building not penalize, tax and spend.  Government should not regulate what we eat, what we drink, where we live, if we smoke, or whether we choose to purchase healthcare insurance.

Surtax on Millionaires
by Karl Logan on 10/06/11

Does the 5% surtax on millionaires really add up?  No.  Sure a little extra tax money is better than no money but the sheer size of Obama's jobs plan will require $8.9 trillion dollars in earnings to pay for the bill.  Harry Reid is merely grand standing.  It is a populist thing to say.  Attack the millionaires.  And if you wonder why the millionaires aren't happy with the idea, 5% on a million is $50,000.00.

My earnings are nowhere close to being affected by these surtaxes so why should I care?  I care because this is just political maneuvering on the part of the Democratic party.  Demonize the millionaire and the Democrats will get most of America behind them.  As long as they (those earning under a million) don't have to pay, so what!

Think about the sheer size of the jobs plan.  $447,000,000,000.00.  Where is the Whitehouse going to get this kind of money?  A 5% surtax won't be enough.  They will have to print it.  So when you think it doesn't affect you, you are mistaken.  Every dollar the Fed prints devaluates every dollar you earn.  You are not exempt.  We all pay for it one way or another.  Inflation.  Gas goes up, rent goes up, food prices go up, clothing and all other commodities will go up.

I didn't like the first bailout under Bush.  To big to fail.  Really?  How is that working for you?  This jobs plan is just another step closer to bankruptcy.  The problem is that millions of Americans are out of work and they are facing bankruptcy themselves.  I don't blame them for wanting the government to fix the economy so they will have a job again.  The problem is that everything the government touches turns to dust.

Which direction do you think the economy is going?  Have you looked at your 401K lately?  Each time the Feds dumped money into the economy the market, and your 401K, went up a little.  As soon as the cash infusion was gone the market declined.  The same will happen again.  A short rally followed by a lower low.  Who do you think Obama has lined up this time to create jobs?  Another Solyndra?

Filial Laws
by Karl Logan on 10/02/11

Important information about Filial Laws - Family support laws

According to the law, you might be responsible to pay for your parents' nursing home care or assisted living.  Many states have a Filial Law that requires children to care for their parents.  I guess you can call it pay back.  Parents are legally responsible for their children and when the parents age and can no longer care for themselves their children are legally responsible to care for them.

The AARP website lists states that have filial laws.  Oregon happens to be one of those states as is California.  Washington is not a state with this law.  In Oregon it is considered Criminal Mistreatment to not care for a person that is poor or unable to work to maintain themselves.  Some nursing homes have sued the children of nursing homes patients that have a balance due when they die.

Montana Cowboy
by Karl Logan on 10/01/11

From an internet post...enjoy!

A Montana cowboy was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture when suddenly a brand-new B M W advanced out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban Sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the cowboy, 'If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give me a calf?'

The cowboy looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, 'Sure, why not?' The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASA Page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation System to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.

The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored.

He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel Spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the cowboy and says, 'You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves.'

'That's right number, all right. Well, I guess you can take one of the little ones,' says the Cowboy. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.

Then the cowboy says to the young man, 'Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my animal?' The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, 'Okay, why not?'

You're a Congressman for the U.S Government', says the cowboy. 'Wow! That's correct,' says the yuppie, 'but how did you guess that?'

'No guessing was required.' answered the cowboy. 'You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You tried to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don't know a thing about cows...this is a herd of sheep.

Now give me back my dog!

How is Obama doing as a CEO?
by Karl Logan on 09/29/11

Fox News Poll: Majority Says as a CEO, Obama Would Have Been Fired By Dana Blanton, Published September 29, 2011 | FoxNews.com

If Barack Obama were president of a major U.S. company, he'd be fired by now. That's what American voters think -- by a 52-38 percent margin.

Fifty-six percent of independents think a corporation's board of directors would have already handed Obama his pink slip. Nearly a quarter of Democrats also believe Obama would be out (23 percent).

In Obama's real job as president, a Fox News poll released Thursday found that while 43 percent of voters approve of his performance, just over half -- 51 percent -- disapprove.

Herman Cain and Zogby Poll
by Karl Logan on 09/29/11

Herman Cain does it again.  The Zogby poll has Herman Cain at 28%.  While every other candidate either started out strong, like Michele Bachmann, had a steady level ranking like Ron Paul, or were a flash in the pan like Perry, Herman Cain has climbed to a new high with steady growth.  With the exception of a dip in late August and early Septmeber when Perry entered the race, Cain has has steady growth in numbers since June 21.

If you haven't already given Herman Cain a look, do so now.  As I said in a previous blog, Cain is a Conservative Black Businessman with a plan for America.  He is a no nonsense nonpolitician espousing common sense rather than political rhetoric that we hear from every other candidate.

Herman Cain is a GOP candidate I can get behind.  If you haven't followed him, watch previous debates for a sample of what he stands for.  He won the Straw Poll with 37%.  Ahead of Perry and Romney.

Cain isn't a politician so no one can beat him up on his record.  He is very conservative on the verge of Libertarianism.  He is very bright and has great business experience.  On many issues, he is the only candidate that discusses his plan to fix the economy.  Everyone else seems to get caught up trashing each other and destroying any chance of winning the confidence of the American people.

As a black conservative, Herman Cain might even pull some of the black vote from Obama.  I hope the press start to give Herman Cain some face time.  He is an unknown which works in his favor.  This win might provide the momentum Cain needs to be noticed.  We really need a president with some business savvy to reel in this fiscal irresponsibility.

Not Raising Hogs
by Karl Logan on 09/24/11

I am reposting this email for your reading pleasure.  As you might know, the federal government has programs to pay farmers to leave their land fallow.

To: Honorable Secretary of Agriculture, Washington , D.C.

Dear Sir,

My friend, Ed Peterson, over at Wells, Iowa, received a check for $1,000 from the government for not raising hogs. So, I want to go into the "not raising hogs" business next year. What I want to know is, in your opinion, what is the best  kind of farm not to raise hogs on, and what is the best breed of hogs not to raise? I want to be sure that I approach this endeavor in keeping with all governmental policies.

I would prefer not to raise razorbacks, but if that is not a good breed not to raise, then I will just as gladly not raise Yorkshires or Durocs. As I see it, the hardest part of this program will be in keeping an accurate inventory of how many hogs I haven't raised.  My friend, Peterson, is very joyful about the future of the business. He has been raising hogs for twenty years or so, and the best he ever made on them was $422 in 1968, until this year when he got your check for $1000 for not raising hogs.

If I get $1000 for not raising 50 hogs, will I get $2000 for not raising 100 hogs? I plan to operate on a small scale at first, holding myself down to about 4000 hogs not raised, which will mean about $80,000 the first year. Then I can afford an airplane.

Now another thing, these hogs I will not raise will not eat 100,000 bushels of corn. I understand that you also pay farmers for not raising corn and wheat. Will I qualify for payments for not raising wheat and corn not to feed the 4000 hogs I am not going to raise? Also, I am considering the "not milking cows" business, so send me any information you have on that too.

In view of these circumstances, you understand that I will be totally unemployed and plan to file for unemployment and food stamps. Be assured you will have my vote in the coming election.
Patriotically Yours, Mr. Smith

P.S. Would you please notify me when you plan to distribute more free cheese.

Who's your Daddy?
by Karl Logan on 09/14/11

Reflection on both Congressional parties brings to mind the moniker of sugar daddy.  When you break it all down, politicians are really asking..."Who's your Daddy?"  The politician is the sugar daddy, pusher, or pimp of congressional pork.

Americans make decisions at the voting booth based on what their party promises them.  Republicans promise opportunity while Democrats promise welfare.  While Republicans are attempting to reduce tax burden on the rich they are also offering opportunity in the way of jobs.  Give the wealthy a tax break and they reinvest in America which in turn provides jobs.  On the other hand, Democrats tax the rich to provide welfare, healthcare, and another extension of unemployment.  If you drink the liberal cool aid, and sign on to a government job, you will get liberal benefits and a generous early retirement.

When you hear a politician bloviating on the campaign trail they are really saying "Who’s your Daddy?"  If you elect me, I will give you nirvana.  Your life will be better if you elect me.  Like any pusher, once you are hooked Democrats feed you more and more entitlements until they have you espousing their rhetoric.  Like every addict you need to find money to pay for your habit so you go to the rich and beat down their door.  The wealthy will not take this lying down and the result is class warfare.

So next time your hear "Who's your Daddy" from some politician realize that you have a choice;  Hard work, self respect, and a home for your family or welfare and skid row.

No more Weiner's in New York
by Karl Logan on 09/14/11

Judging by the headline you would think that New York had finally shut down the hotdog stands due to their high fat content.  But in an ironic twist for a liberal state, Anthony Weiner's House seat was filled not by another Democrat, it was filled by the GOP contender Bob Turner.  The people of New York have decided enough of President Obama and his policies and enough of the liberal New York State policies.

However, one of Obama's policies has been effective.  Obama's blame game seems to be working on some constituents.  Some Democrats, and the press, still blame Bush and the Tea Party Congress for all the problems in America.  It is interesting that these people blame the Republicans in Congress for Obama policy failures but laid the blame squarely on President Bush during his tenure.  One big difference between Bush and Obama is that Bush didn't blame Clinton or Congress for America's problems.

As the leader of the free world, the president should accept all the strife that comes with the title.  If you want the praise for the good, you must also accept the blame for the harsh reality of an ineffective Congress.  This is not to say that I consider the Tea Party ineffective.  On the contrary, the Tea Party is attempting to keep America out of bankruptcy.

I certainly hope that the next presidential election will not be won by Obama.  If you just do the math, you will see that given the opportunity to bankrupt America, Obama and the Democrats will be successful.  No responsible adult would intentionally spend themselves into bankruptcy.  But that is exactly what Obama is doing.  Obama thinks that he can spend recklessly then suggest that the only way out is too tax the U.S. into prosperity.  It will not work.  (Read my blog on the richest Americans)  Obama will need to convert America into a socialist/communist country to reconcile the books.  And in my opinion, that is his goal.

Obama's Job Plan
by Karl Logan on 09/09/11

Like a junky, Obama is looking for more OPM (other people's money) to satisfy his cravings.  If a $1.4 trillion deficit isn't enough, Obama wants another $450 billion.  Where is he going to get this money?  Obama will attempt to get it from the rich.  All of the poor and middleclass might think that is a great idea, partly because we don't have anything else to give.  Instead of directing the first round of stimulus money to construction jobs and infrastructure, much of that stimulus went to corporations like Goldman Sachs.  Poor Goldman Sachs was struggling and needed an infusion of free money to pay bonuses to the same employees that sold risky investments to clients while personally shorting those same positions.

More reckless spending is not the answer.  The hole created by congress, Obama, and Bush is so big if every billionaire in the U.S. contributed their ENTIRE net worth to reduce the deficit it still wouldn't fix our fiscal problems.  See blog "Are Billionaires the answer for US debt crisis?" http://www.logansboro.com/karlsblog.html?entry=are-billionaires-the-answer-for

In my opinion the answer to our debt problem lies with President Obama.  Obama must resign.  That will not happen so we will need to wait another 14 months for a chance to fix the problem.  Why do I say Obama should resign?  As I see it, Americans have lost faith in Obama's ability to fix our fiscal problems.  American's will not spend their precious devalued dollars until they feel like the economy is recovering.  Investors have lost faith in Obama to fix the problems.  Investors will not reinvest until they believe the markets are safe again.  The markets won't be safe until there is a significant policy shift.  CEO's are calling for change, hope isn't cutting it.  CEO's will not hire or expand their companies until they regain faith in Congress and the Whitehouse.  More of the same will not earn the trust of the American people, investors, or CEO's (the job creators).

The White House and the Democrats blame the Tea Party for all of America's problems.  Every Union, labor group, and liberal Democrat and blogger has jumped in line to blame the only group that is showing fiscal restraint.  Obama stated in his jobs speech that the solution was simple math.  However, in his politicized job speech Obama was talking about tax and spend not cut, cap, and balance.

We all need to decide whether we like the current state of the economy and vote accordingly.

Use of Foreign Laws in American courts

Michigan is debating whether to pass a law that prevents use of foreign laws in court cases.  At face value it makes since.  Of course we wouldn't use foreign laws in an American court.  However, a Michigan lawmaker is fighting this law on behalf of the large Muslim population in Michigan.  On a side note, this lawmaker is also Muslim.  Nineteen states are considering passing laws to define use of foreign laws in state courts and four states have already passed these laws.

The premise is straight forward.  Foreign laws can not supersede state law and/or the state's constitution.  The legislation does not specify Muslim/Islamic laws, it just prevents all foreign laws to be used.  Isn't it bad enough that foreign diplomats are granted diplomatic immunity for drunken driving and manslaughter?  Why should the United States of America extend foreign powers the right to use their laws in our country?  This is a very slippery slope.

One website I reviewed outlined their research as follows;  "Muslims feel that Shariah has been misunderstood by Christians, who have tended to concentrate on the demands for harsh punishments such as amputation of a hand or foot for theft and public flogging for people caught drinking alcohol.  Shariah also places restrictions on what women can wear and whom they can see. It forbids women from wearing jewelry and make-up and from making noise with their shoes when they walk.  If a woman does work outside the home, she is forbidden to sit beside the driver when traveling to and from work. Stylish dress and decoration of women is forbidden.  The historical pattern of Islam shows us that when a nation gains a sufficiently large Muslim population, they will begin to agitate for Shariah to be implemented.  Shariah is the primary source of persecution for Christians in Muslim dominated states."

Some journalists believe the concern is overblown.  In a report from CBS news, it is suggested that even if the U.S. allowed Sharia law for devote Muslims, there wouldn't be any chopping off of hands or polygamy.  I find this report, and the journalist to be extremely naive.  When a Muslim population is large enough (as it is in Michigan) to elect a Muslim lawmaker (which they did) and that lawmaker begins a push to allow foreign laws (Sharia law) to supersede American laws we already have a problem.

America is the greatest country on earth.  We get to do almost everything with impunity.  Alcohol, nudity, pornography, adultery, provocative dress, under age sex, gay marriage, and recently the push for acceptance of pedophilia, are all okay with progressive Americans.  It seems that the only intolerance in America is the intolerance of conservative thought.  Let this conservative just state that if you participate in any of the above activities, you certainly do not want Sharia law in the United States of America.

Morally Bankrupt
by Karl Logan on 08/25/11

Many Democrats in Washington are blaming the Tea Party for all the woes in society.  First, California Rep. Maxine Waters, then Rep. Wilson from Florida are pointing the finger directly at the Tea Party for the continued economic downturn.  Is it because congress is morally bankrupt?  Certainly they are financially bankrupt.  Even some Republicans are willing to sacrifice America's future for the sake of politics as usual.  Continued spending and increases in the debt ceiling are the norm for Washington and most American's, represented by Tea Party with their landslide victories in the House of Representatives, are fed up.

Business leaders recently made a pact to not make political contributions until congress gets spending and the debt under control.  The Black Caucus attacked Obama for his failing job plan.  Americans and business leaders seem to understand, why doesn't congress get it?  The press and some Americans, blame conservative talk show hosts for all of America's problems.  Interestingly, it seems obvious that congress can not, or should not, spend more than they appropriate through tax revenue.  Strapping future generations with such outrageous debt is, in my opinion, morally bankrupt.  A new study shows that 80% of congress does not have an academic background in business or economic.

Democrats will debate morality and suggest that Republicans, and the rich, are morally bankrupt in that they allow poverty to continue and the poor suffer from economic disadvantages.  True conservatives will argue that giving money to able bodied citizens without teaching them to be self sufficient is morally wrong.  The old adage of teaching a man to fish is appropriate here.  In my opinion, creating a society of dependent citizens is morally wrong, and spending to achieve economic equality is the fast road to bankruptcy.

For the record, both parties are guilty of reckless spending.  The Tea Party members were elected to curb this spending and attempt to get American back on track.  To blame the Tea Party for America's ills is the pot calling the kettle black.

Cowboys and Politics
by Karl Logan on 08/21/11

Where I stand 'cowboy' is not a pejorative term.  It does not have negative connotations.  To hear the elitist media talk about our country and cowboys you would think they were talking about terrorists.  Somehow the move to city life and the convenience of shopping malls, grocery stores, and gourmet restaurants has resulted in a divide between rural America and our country's roots.

To quote Patrick Dorinson in his blog "Give Me Cowboy Values Over Washington Values Any Day",

"Unlike politicians, a cowboy still makes a deal with a handshake and his word is his bond.  A cowboy does not make rash decisions because the wrong decision can be the difference between life and death for him, his horse and those he works with.  A cowboy lives by a set of unwritten principles hard wired into his DNA. It is instinctive because it is the example set by those that surround him.  Cowboys don't whine and stomp their feet like spoiled children and politicians often do when things don't go their way. They know that whining and wringing your hands don't get the job done".

Haven't we had enough of the smarmy slick talking politician and their elitist ways?  They say whatever wins votes and then reward their donors.  Lack of integrity is not limited to Washington politicians.  I have worked for companies that place more weight on ego and bottom line than the employees and managers that work the front line.  When I grew up your word was everything.  You make a deal and you stand by it no matter what.  You do what is right.  You are not rewarded for unscrupulous behavior.  There is no such thing as plausible deniability.  Profit doesn't trump integrity.

Patrick Dorinson is spot on.  When it comes to values and integrity, I will take dungarees over an empty suit any day.

Do you suppose that some city dwellers think milk always came in cartons beef always came in patties.

Underground Railroad
by Karl Logan on 08/18/11

The Congressional Black Caucus is frustrated with Obama and his social welfare policies.  Unemployment for blacks is 15.9% while the national average stands at 9.1%.  Rep. Allen West (R) Florida wants to be the "modern- day Harriet Tubman" and lead the black vote away from the democrats.

Bottom-line, all the welfare in the world will not solve anything if there are not enough people working to pay taxes.  And any self respecting American really would rather have a good job to support his/her family and the pride that comes with it.  You can't give that away, it must be earned by working.

Who pays the tax burden?
by Karl Logan on 08/16/11

Over the past decade the rich got a tax break, 46% of the working poor paid little or no federal taxes, and the middleclass paid the tax burden as compared to their income.

The rhetoric regarding fairness in taxation is rampant.  The accusation that half of Americans pay no taxes is thrown around by Republicans and Tea Partiers.  Is it true?  The 50% mark is close when discussing federal taxes only.  There are state, local, excise, and payroll taxes that are difficult to escape.  A study from the tax policy center states that 46% of the population will pay no federal income tax in 2011.  This is a result of a couple of factors.  First, their income is so low and second, they receive more federal subsidies than they pay in taxes which bring their tax liability to zero.  Social Security is not taxable, so seniors living only on social security, pay no federal income tax.  That equates to 22% of the population.   With deductions like the child credit, earned income credit, and the child care credit, 15% pay zero in federal income taxes.  However, most of these Americans still pay payroll taxes like social security.  There is another 10% that pay no federal taxes for a myriad of reasons.  18 percent will escape both income tax and payroll taxes because they are unemployed or retired.

The top 20% of earners (Americans earning $103,000) will pay 70% of all federal taxes.  That is half of all federal taxes collected.  The top 400 richest Americans pay 18% of the tax burden which is down from 30% due to the Bush tax cuts.  When voting for federal positions, like the president or congressmen, many Americans vote with their pocketbook.

So why all the finger pointing?  The rich will always be able to pay more than the poor.  The democrats will always attempt to add services that benefit their base and the republicans will always attempt to pays less of the tax burden.  The result will be compromise that will put the government further and further in debt until it collapses.

Union Workers United...at a pub
by Karl Logan on 08/14/11

In another case of union blues, Trade Center construction workers get drunk at lunch at a nearby Irish Pub.  One worker proudly admitted working at Local 46, referring to the metals workers union.  Unions demand top dollar for their labor and many are irresponsible enough to drink on the job.  I'm sorry, I misspoke, they get drunk at a nearby Irish Pub, then they returned to work.

You wonder why so many businessmen want to break the union.  Obtaining a living wage and family benefits is one thing, but drinking on the job without reprisal is another.  The job is almost 2 billion over budget.   I wonder why manufacturing is going overseas.

Union unrest
by Karl Logan on 08/13/11

I will not discuss whether unions have a place in today's world in this blog.  I ask that you view the video and decide for yourself.  Union Boss's orchestrate unruly behavior at picket lines.

http://www.nrtw.org/en/blog/union-militancy-and-verizon-strike08122111

Union thugs intimidate employees and stop legitimate business to get want they want and the consumer suffers in the process.  Millions of people are out of work and the union insists on striking.  Can you really blame the employee for working to feed his/her family?

I believe this is only the beginning of civil unrest.  People are frightened about their future and they should be.  But this type of reaction will only create more unrest.  Be vigilant.

Postal Service
by Karl Logan on 08/12/11

In an interesting twist, the U.S. Postal Service is considering withdrawing from government health plans to reduce it hemorrhaging and stay solvent.  The current health care and benefit system is going to cost the USPS $5.5 billion in September which would put them over their borrowing limit or "debt ceiling".  This is a perfect example of how unions have negotiated unsustainable contracts for government employees.  The government does not have the ability or the discipline to lay off employees or cut costs when the economy sours which hampers their ability to control costs during economic downturns.

While everyone would like to have a secure job with Cadillac healthcare and pension, it is not practical for a single payer, the tax payer, to finance these expenses.  While civil service employees can complain that they have a deal, that they signed a contract, the system was setup to fail.  It is not sustainable.  This is what happens with socialism.  It is designed to fail.

In a conversation with a retiree from Boeing, he said that the elders, employees close to retirement, discussed why the Boeing retirement system was still solvent.  He said that the average life expectancy for Boeing retirees at the time was less than 24 months.  In other words, they die and quit drawing benefits.  I am sure there are survivor benefits etc., but the point is that that plan was solvent because the recipients died early.  Today, many civil service jobs are clerical in nature and the employee can retire after 30 years of light duty.  Just think, retire at 50 in good health with a great income and healthcare benefits.  Who wouldn't want that?  That plan is designed to fail.  Even ponzi schemes work for a while.  Bernie Madoff would still be heralded as a finance guru had the 2008 recession not occurred.

If you are a politician and you offer that plan to your constituents you are guaranteed a loyal following.  It has worked for the democrats for 70 years.

ACORN voter fraud
by Karl Logan on 08/11/11

Acorn, President Obama's community organizing affiliates, was slapped with a fine for voter fraud.  And they say that Bush was an illegitimate president.  The maximum fine seems minimal to me.  $5000 for voter fraud is cheap insurance for a presidential election.  While Acorn is disbanded, the employees have set up shop under new names and will no doubt commit more fraud in Acorn fashion for the 2012 election.

Interestingly, Nevada is Harry Reid's stomping grounds.  Senator Reid is known for illegal alien's support of his campaign.  Harry has stated in his last election that the Mexican vote secured a win for him.  Was there any fraud in that election?

Expect "Reprehensible" Acorn-like activity again in 2012.  Like the Clinton's campaign style, the end justifies the means.

London Riots
by Karl Logan on 08/10/11

London Bridge is falling down!  Mobs continue to riot and burn London.  Like the L.A. riots in the U.S. in 1992, a single event erupts into mass panic and rioting.  In London, a shooting of a 29 year old man resulted in the riots.  It happened in a poor neighborhood and I am sure the citizens feel persecuted and passed over by economic advantages.  The media is now attempting to connect the riots with cuts to entitlements like college tuition.  In a bazaar twist, London's youth are looting and burning down the town.  This is disturbing to me because it means the parents of these teens are behind it or at least allowing it.  Would you ask questions of your teen if they brought home a new flat screen TV?

This can happen again as it did in L.A. in 1992.  With all the entitlement personalities and the lack of accountability, some Americans encourage social unrest.  Community organizers, like Obama's connections of his not too distant past, are certainly capable and even encouraged to participate in this type of demonstration.  Unlike their conservative counterparts that protest peacefully with signs, many left leaning individuals and organizations train their soldiers to fight, riot, and loot if necessary to make a political point.  In some circles, it is not difficult to recruit these protestors because it can mean lots of booty with little chance of imprisonment.  "It is just the sign of the times" will be printed in the paper.  Media will report that this is even expected and acceptable under the harsh conservative values purported by the Tea Party.

At least some in the London media question the irresponsible nature of these riots.  Lack of accountability in the home results in a tacit approval of this behavior if not an outright parental craving to take advantage of a good crisis.  Heck, they might as well take the big screen before the building is burned down.  The parents of these kids have a responsibility to make sure technology is not wasted like that.  Look around America, and your own community, and you will witness stirrings of a similar unrest.

If the economic problems in U.S. are not corrected soon, it will happen in America.  Only this time it will not be isolated to L.A.  When the teamsters, police, fire, and other civil service employees get cut or laid off you will see a lot of unrest.  It will be followed by the opportunistic ACORN like demonstrations and riots.  I suggest that we prepare ourselves for the worst and pray for the best.

U.S. Downgrade results in 634 fall in the Dow
by Karl Logan on 08/08/11

It is no surprise that the Democrats or the Whitehouse accept no responsibility for anything.  In my opinion, John Kerry is an idiot.  Accepting no responsibility himself, Kerry says the downgrade of U. S. is due to the Tea Party.  Having read the news reports myself, I seem to remember the S&P talking heads state that the reckless spending is the reason for the downgrade.   I guess Senator Kerry wanted to beat everyone else to the punch and make a pre-emptive strike.  Point the finger at the Tea Party first and they will be left defending themselves.  Considering the brinkmanship of both parties, the Tea Party has little room to defend itself.   The Whitehouse is trying to downplay the downgrade unless Obama can firmly place the downgrade on the shoulders of the Republicans or the Tea Party.  The Whitehouse has even suggested that the S&P got the math wrong.

Today 08/08/2011, the S&P downgraded Fanny and Freddie, as well as other poorly managed companies.  If John Kerry is right, these downgrades must be the fault of the Tea Party as well.  Economics 101 should teach them that you can't always depend on a revenue source but you can control spending/expenses.  Every American has had to cut back on spending to keep their financial house in order.  Why does Congress believe it is okay to spend recklessly?

The S&P informed Congress and the Whitehouse that anything less than 4 trillion in cuts might result in a downgrade.  So why is Congress so surprised?  The brinkmanship will continue.  Nothing will get accomplished.  Revenue will decline, expenses will climb, the cost of financing the debt will soar, and the new debt ceiling will be reached long before it was anticipated.  Moody's is taking a "wait and see" attitude and not jumping on the bandwagon yet.  Last month, when Moody's downgraded Italy's rating, the Italian government raided their offices and is preparing for criminal prosecution.

John Kerry, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats in Washington are like spoiled teenagers.  They blow their weekly allowance and blame their parents for not providing enough cash to carry them into next week.  Instead of controlling expenses, they suggest it is the revenue side that is amiss.

As the town crier, I am sounding the alarm yet again to get your personal house in order.  Americans can't count on Washington to fix the problem they created.  I hope that I am wrong and this is another millennium bug.  I don't think that is the case.  You can only count on yourself.  If you prepare for the worst and nothing happens, you are still better off than doing nothing.  If you don't prepare and the worst happens ___________ , you fill in the blank.

USA downgraded
by Karl Logan on 08/06/11

The S&P downgraded the United States of America.  See video.

America held a AAA rating.  The S&P downgraded America to a AA+.  The implications are huge.  If you are retired and invest in bonds you might be in a rosy position as interest on bonds and debt rise.  However, that money might soon become worth-less as the dollar devaluates.  Americans holding credit card debt might be in for a surprise.  Interest rates are likely to rise making minimum payments increase.  Mortgage interest is likely to inch up as well.  Worse, American debt will no doubt increase making our debt load even more expensive.  This further complicates the Federal budget problems.  As interest debt increases, cuts must be made elsewhere to balance the budget (as if that will ever happen).  The new negotiated debt ceiling will quickly be eaten up by interest payments.

The domino effect has started.  Most Americans and world leaders have little faith in this administration or this congress.  Many blame conservative talks shows for the economic problems.  Talk show hosts are simply reporting the news as they see it.  After 911, some Americans laughed when Bush said go out and spend money, don't allow the terreriots to win.  That reassurance proved beneficial for the economy.  However, no one has any faith that Obama can steer this economy anywhere but into an iceberg.  And congress is telling everyone to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I hope that Americans are taking the necessary steps to protect their family and their wealth.  A little extra food on the shelf, a hunting license and a spare box of ammo won't hurt either.

Dow Drops 500 points
by Karl Logan on 08/04/11

The Dow Jones drops over 500 points on Thursday August 4th.  Did anyone at the Whitehouse care?  If they did would it change business as usual in Congress?  Is this a message from Wall Street?  Just a few of the headlines below:

Dow Drops 500 on Obama's Birthday

Stock markets have terrible day; Dow drops 500 points
Fear factor soars as worries about economies in US, Europe slam stocks

Dow Jones returns to losing ways as investor confidence evaporates
Wall Street sees biggest single-day fall since December 2008 during height of the financial crisis

Dow Drops 500 Points: Another Recession?
Grim day on Wall Street leads to growing concerns about jobs and the economy.

Stocks in freefall; Dow closes 500 points lower - Business

The Dow finished down 10 of the past 11 trading days.  This is a loss of over 10% or 1200 points.  Is this the new trend?  Read past blogs and see what I have been reading.  Neither the Whitehouse or Congress have a clue what to do.  For the brightest President in decades Obama is leading this country into a great depression.  I guess the question remains...is that his intent?

The New Budget 2011
by Karl Logan on 08/03/11

So the 2011 budget deal is done and the winners and loser are as follows.
Winners: Big Government.  Losers: Tax payers.

A little more depth outlines it like this:  The winners are stimulus recipients and big government.  Deficit spending and scare tactics prevail.  Obama and the Democrats have successfully set aside reckless deficit spending to finance his healthcare plan and pay off big donors with pork.  What would have really happened if the deadline was missed?  Obama threatened Social Security even though there is adequate revenue to pay recipients.  It was 90% scare tactics.

The losers include the Tea Party movement, the economy, and our bond rating.  Despite a passage of the new budget, the Dow Jones dropped 265 points.  Investors and perhaps the Standard and Poors see the New Deal as reckless.  The Tea Party was unable to fend off the aggressive maneuvering by the Democrats.  Even the Tea Party feared tax payers and the economy would suffer if the deadline was missed.

Once again business as usually is pushing America into an abyss.  Putin calls the U.S. a parasite on the world economy and he is right.  Now Putin calls for another reserve currency.  It has been in the works for a long time now.  Countries like Russia and China knew the U.S. congress didn't have the guts to make the tough decisions.  The ball is already rolling and Americans are the pins at the end of the alley.

Cast your votes in November accordingly.

The Debt Deal's Three Biggest Winners and Losers

The Raw Deal - 2011 Budget Legislation
by Karl Logan on 08/01/11

They call this a success?  The 2011 budget deal.  While writing this blog Congress hasn't voted to accept it, but at face value it is absurd.

Proposed is a $900 billion increase in the debt limit with an additional $1.5 trillion increase offset by $1.5 trillion in cuts.  They say it is a $2.4 trillion increase and an immediate $1.0 trillion cut over 10 years.  How does that pencil out?  In essence, Congress is making little change.  The $1.0 trillion immediate cut is over 10 years.  That means only a $100 billion cut each year.  The military is already scheduled to withdraw troops from the war(s) which will save billions.  A $100 billion cut to the federal budget is a mere 12% cut to the military and that is already scheduled (see article below).  The federal budget is $3.5 trillion per year.  $100 billion is less than a 3% cut to the total federal budget.  The $900 billion increase to the debt ceiling is a 25% increase to the federal budget.

Harry Reid is a jackass.  In his rant about the budget deal he goes on to blame Bush for all the countries woes.  Senator Reid never mentions Obama's Healthcare legislation or Obama's handling of the economy while bashing Bush over lost jobs and Bush's drug program (closing the donut hole for seniors).  He goes on to suggest that Bush took a Clinton surplus and turned it into a deficit.  Harry, go look at the numbers.  The economy was headed into a recession after 8 years of growth and an internet bubble when Bush took office.  To create a surplus Clinton slashed the military making our country vulnerable when we were attacked on 911 (not to mention Clinton's lack of response to Islamic aggression).  If you look at history (and the Dow Jones), you will see that Bush pulled us out of the recession while fighting two wars.  Yes, it added to the debt, but it worked unlike Obama's attempt.   Ironically, Senator Reid bashes Bush's healthcare legislation (the drug program) which was hailed at the time by some and criticized as stingy by some democrats, while secretly celebrating the passing of Obama's massive healthcare legislation.

When will the Democrats start accepting responsibility for the economy and a great country again?  As soon as we have a good economy and a great country again.  I suspect that will be when we have a Republican president.  But I digress.

This Budget deal, the New Raw Deal, will fix little and cost tax payer many more trillions of dollars.  The cost of Obama's healthcare plan hasn't even kicked in yet.  Just wait.
